Windows lets each connected display use its own scale setting. The important detail is selecting the correct monitor first; it is easy to change the laptop screen while looking at the external display and conclude that nothing happened.

  1. Open Display settings. Right-click an empty part of the desktop and choose Display settings, or go to Settings → System → Display.
  2. Select the target screen. Click Identify if you are not sure which numbered rectangle represents each physical monitor.
